Description
Supachai (Preecha) Natngamkam, the founder of Mae Ping River Cruise Co., Ltd., was born in the Klong Prakanong district of Bangkok, which is also the same area in the legend of Mae Nak Prakanong at Mahabut temple. He began his cruise traveling business around 1969, during a time when most of the tourists were American soldiers visiting Bangkok for their vacations.
In the early days of the business, Supachai took the visitors on cruises to experience the beauty of living along the canals (Klong) such as Klongton, Klonghuamak, Klongbaanpah, and Klongprakanong. The cruises allowed tourists to pass by various villages and paddy fields, immersing them in the natural atmosphere and local way of life. One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to "Preecha Garden," a scenic spot that offered a wide range of activities such as fishing, boxing, cockfighting, Betta fighting, and monkey shows, all set amidst the beauty of nature. These experiences brought joy and happiness to the tourists.
However, as time passed, the area started to undergo significant changes. The canals' sides became filled with houses and an increasing number of people, signifying the advent of civilization in the region. Despite the changes, Supachai's dedication to providing unique and enjoyable cruise experiences continued.
Over the years, Mae Ping River Cruise Co., Ltd. has evolved to adapt to the changing times and tourist preferences. Today, it continues to offer memorable river cruises, showcasing the charm of Thailand's natural beauty and cultural heritage. The legacy of Supachai (Preecha) Natngamkam lives on in the company, which remains committed to providing travelers with exceptional experiences along the scenic Mae Ping River.
